Mobile Phone and Devices at School
I would like to remind you of the Department of Education’s mobile phone ban, which requires students who bring mobile phones to school to have them switched off and securely stored away during school hours. This policy applies equally to all government schools across the state and aims to ensure that schools remain focused on providing a learning environment free from unnecessary distractions and disruptions.
Note that this is a Ministerial policy formally issued by the Minister for Education under section 5.2.1(2)(b) of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic).
From the start of the new school year, students will be required to keep their phones off and out of sight during class time, as well as during recess and lunch breaks. This encourages students to interact face-to-face, without the distractions and social pressures that mobile phones can cause.
We ask for the support of all our families, staff, and students in upholding this important policy to maintain a focused learning environment.
Exceptions
For a small number of students with particular health needs, exceptions to the policy may be considered. If you would like to discuss this, please contact the school principal.
Emergencies
In the event of an emergency, or if you need to urgently contact your child, please contact the school office. Our staff will ensure that your message is passed on to your child promptly.
